Light bars and Tailights

Light bars are used for looks and for off-roading in the sand dunes and where ever you want to go because you got enough light power to traverse any kind of terrain, Light bars brands Rigid Industries LED lighting, KC lights is another big brand for lights. They use these things on SUV's and pickup trucks no matter the size of the truck. These lights are really bright so they light up quite a way but they can be dangerous on your eyes.

Rims and Tires

Rims and tires are a key part of building a truck because there are so many different rims and tires to chose from. If you look at custom trucks they all most likely have some sort of rim and tire combination on them. One brand of rim is Fuel they make real good rims and alot of people use them there are also alot of other rims like N12, XD, BMF, Anthem, MSA, Metal Mulisha, Rockstar, FITE, Vrock, Moto Metal, and AT. Tire brands include Toyo, Bridgestone, BF Googrinch, Goodyear, Dunlop, Michelin, UNIROYAL, Mickey Thompson, Yokohama, General Tire, Kumhoh, Hankook, Pirelli.

Straight Pipes and Exhaust Tips

Now I will talk about exhaust brands and straight pipes. Some brands are RBP, MBRP, Metal Mulisha, MHI, Sinister Diesel, and AFE Power. Straight pipes now are when they take off the muffler and add just a straight metal pipe. It makes the sound different because the muffler dampens the sound of the exhaust. The sound now to to a somewhat louder and deeper sound, and that is how they are straight piped.

Turbo's and Chips

We are talking chips and turbos today in our blogs. Some chips are Edge Products, Bully dog, Banks Power, Diablo Sport, Hypertek, SCT, H&S, and Super-chip. They help to add more performance and can help to delete all of your pollution control's. These chips or tuners actually help the mpg and help with better overall performance.      Now about turbo's there are also different brands Garret, Schweitzer, Halsey, IHI, Borgewarner, and K turbo-later. Some of these turbos help with performance and add more horsepower to the engine. Also they have
alot more noise which people like.

Best Lifted Diesels

Lifted trucks are the new things for truck owners they can lift them from 1-6 inches and differ on their opinion of how high they want. I can be bad bad to lift it too much because it can mess up your alignment and it can throw off your balance. There are alot of lift brands Rough Country and Ready Lift are good brand names for lift kits. There are just straight lifts and there is leveling kits that level your truck to give it a different appearance. Leveling kits however make it so if you hook up a trailer the back end drops like nothing.

Detroit Diesel

In this one I will talk about the detroit diesel engines, they are usually used in big semi trucks. The old semi's had them before most of the engines were replaced by the Cummins engine. The biggest engine is the 15.6L, it has 475-600 hp in them.Transmission is the DT12 heavy duty 12 speed automatic to help power it. Trucks like Peterbilt, Kenworth, and Mack trucks all had Detroit Diesels in them, now they all have cummins engines in them because the Cummins engine is for big heavy duty trucks. Also the old gm trucks were running these engines in them for awhile before 2001.

Powerstroke

The Powerstroke engine was brought in 1994 and still are in use for Ford trucks. They include the 7.3L (not used now), 6.0, 6.4, 6.7 Scorpion, 3.2L (new in 2015). Cylinders are 90-degree V-8, The valvetrain is OHV. The power output is 210-275 horsepower, they all have single shot injection on those engines. The engine has a dry weight of 920 pounds, piston stroke of 4.18 inches, Fuel cut-off at 4200 rpm. An air-to-air inter-cooler was added to cool the charged air from the turbo for increased air density. The 7.3L had 275 hp, and 525 lb ft of torque, oil capacity was 18 quarts and the oil pan held 15 quarts. The one engine is called the Scorpion but they classify it as a Powerstroke engine.

Duramax

Duramaxs were first made in 2001 and are still going today, they are used in GM trucks and the engine is a 6.6L. The engines are LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, LMK, LML, and LGH they all however are 6.6L. Most of the engines are 32 valves and lot's of people like these trucks too, they are nice engines to own and maintain. When people buy these trucks they delete them and add accessories to supe  them up to make them roll coal out the exhaust pipes. One guy on YouTube has a twin turbo duramax and when he does boost launches his truck really goes because of all the add on's he has put on.
The duramax trucks are v8's compared to cummins engine which is a straight six diesel engine. The body shape has changed alot just like the cummins truck body shapes but the duramax engines don't have gens like the first, second, third, and fourth gens.

Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine

The Cummins diesel engines have been around for quite awhile now and sales have been rising, lot's of trucks you see are customized with tires, rims, and lift kits.
The cummins engine was established 1919 and they used them in race cars as I said in my previous post and they were later put in public use for people to use in trucks. The first diesel engine was made in 1989 and it was a 5.9L 12 valve, the 12 valve later went to a 24 valve after the technology was available.  After first gen came the 2nd gen and they were more evolved to the changing times. All these diesels came with turbos which are known for their distinct whistling noise when the truck is reved up.
The third gen cummins was released in 2003-2007 and were used by people for work trucks and other use. Even now a days people customize them alot because of the fourth gen trucks are coming out. Every year third gen trucks are getting cheaper and cheaper for young guys to buy as a custamizable first vehicle.

Dirty Diesels

Here we are talking about best lifted and customized diesel trucks. We will include powerstrokes, cummins, and duramax's. Some might be totally deleted and some might be stock, either way they will be nice.
Cummins- Alot of people like them and they have been around for a while and they have different gen's. Gen's means generation, they have a first to fourth generation engines in Ram or Dodge trucks. Their engine was founded in 1919 and was used in little race cars until they were tested out in heavier trucks and that's where it started out.
Duramax- This engine might be a newer engine but it was started or produced in 2001, GM was using other engines but switched over into the duramax in 2001. The engines were 6.6L engines when they were switched over from the older detroit diesels. Engine models are LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML, and the LGH.
Powerstroke- This is the powerstroke, they are used in Ford trucks. They were produced in 1994 and still are being used. Engines are 7.3L, 6.0L, 6.4L, and they used a 6.7L scorpion brought out in 2011.  There are lot's of these trucks driving around too. These trucks are used alot as fleet trucks for different companies.
